CryptoLocker Infection

Since Fall of 2013 a Ransomware known as CryptoLocker has been circulating. This malware is being passed through links or attachments in emails. When the user clicks on the link, a window pops up which then installs the malware on the machine.

The window states that files on the machine have been encrypted and in order for them to be decrypted the user must pay a ransom. This malware not only has access to files on the local machine but also has access to any data on the network the machine is connected to. Unfortunately, once the malware is downloaded there is nothing that can be done to decrypt the files. The only solution to fix the infected machine is to clear the infection off the machine and restore the files from a backup.

To protect yourself from this type of damage, educate yourself on the malware and make sure you have a data backup plan in place. Whether the backup is local or off-site, T-Tech Solutions LLC can help you with a solution for your machine. T-Tech Solutions LLC is a reseller of the SOS Online Backup suite and would be happy to assist you in this process. Alongside an effective backup solution, practice safe web browsing and watch which emails you open, don’t open attachments or click on links that aren’t familiar to you.

Our goal in this post is not an attempt to sell you a backup solution. While we’d love for our clients to utilize the SOS solution, which has proven effective in backup and restore of critical data, we’d be just as happy knowing they are using ANY solution. We take great pride and satisfaction in being able to restore entire areas of our client data after an infection like this has hit. Our goal here is to help make sure you avoid the catastrophic damage of this infection and hopefully prevent the issue from occurring all together. Don’t wait until it’s too late to safeguard your files, set up a backup plan and solution today!
